Biography
Tanya Girouard is a Nurse Consultant and Nurse Specialized in Wounds, Ostomy, and Continence (NSWOC) Care with Indigenous Services Canada, Manitoba Region. Since joining the department in 2010, she has been a dedicated resource for health care professionals serving Manitoba’s First Nations communities. Her role encompasses clinical education, consultation in wound management, and practice advising for home and community care programs.
With a NSWOC certification earned in 2008, Tanya brings deep expertise and a collaborative spirit to her work. She supports a wide range of care providers—including those in primary care, public health, senior centers, and home care—by guiding them in developing effective, culturally sensitive care plans that promote healing and improve patient outcomes.
Driven by a passion for empowering others, Tanya is committed to enhancing wound care practices and fostering knowledge-sharing across diverse health care settings. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys an active lifestyle that includes trail running, cycling, and weightlifting. She is also a proud dog mom to two beloved companions who often accompany her on outdoor adventures.
