About the Symposium
Following the success of the 2024 and 2025 Canadian Pressure Injury Summits, the Canadian Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (CPIAP) is proud to expand this initiative into a 1.5-day national symposium on pressure injuries.
The 2026 CPIAP Symposium on Pressure Injuries will bring together provincial and federal leaders, healthcare administrators, clinicians, researchers, and persons with lived experience to collaborate on improving pressure injury prevention and management across Canada.
This event will be offered in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend in person in Calgary, Alberta or virtually from anywhere.

CPIAP will be launching a Call for Abstracts for the 2026 CPIAP Symposium on Pressure Injuries in the coming months. This is an opportunity to share your work, contribute to national dialogue, and help advance pressure injury prevention and management across Canada.

Call for Abstracts – Opening Soon
Share Your Work. Inspire Change. Advance Pressure Injury Prevention.
The Canadian Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (CPIAP) is pleased to announce that the Call for Abstracts for the 2026 CPIAP Symposium on Pressure Injuries will be opening soon.
Abstract submissions will be accepted from July 1, 2026 through August 15, 2026.

We invite clinicians, researchers, educators, quality improvement leaders, healthcare organizations, students, persons with lived experience, and interdisciplinary teams to submit abstracts highlighting innovative initiatives, research, quality improvement projects, educational programs, advocacy efforts, and best practices related to pressure injury prevention and management.
Accepted abstracts will be presented as posters during dedicated poster networking sessions at the Symposium. Authors will be provided approximately 10–15 minutes to present their work, engage with attendees, and answer questions about their project or initiative.

Submissions are encouraged to align with one or more of CPIAP's strategic priorities:
Pressure Injury Prioritization
Promoting awareness of pressure injuries and their impact on individuals, caregivers, healthcare systems, and communities.
Pressure Injury Standardization
Supporting implementation of guidelines, best practices, quality improvement initiatives, and pressure injury data collection.
Advocacy and Policy Change

Presentation Requirements
The primary author of accepted abstracts is expected to attend the Symposium and present their work during the designated poster sessions.
For authors unable to attend in person, virtual participation options and presentation requirements will be outlined in the full Call for Abstracts if possible.
Virtual presenters will be asked to provide a contact email address where attendees may direct questions regarding their work.
Most Impactful Abstract Award
All accepted abstracts will be recognized and celebrated during the Symposium.
One submission will receive the CPIAP Most Impactful Abstract Award, recognizing exceptional alignment with CPIAP's strategic priorities and meaningful contributions to pressure injury prevention and management.
Award selection will be determined through a combined voting process:
