Sharon Gabison
PhD, MSc, BScPT, BSc, IIWCC

Biography
Dr. Gabison is an IIWCC trained physical therapist, educator and researcher. She is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto, and an Affiliate Scientist in pressure injury and home care research at the KITE Research Institute, Toronto Rehab – University Health Network. Part of her teaching at the University of Toronto focuses on teaching future physical therapists on their role of wound prevention and management. Her research at the KITE Research Institute is focused on the development and evaluation of tools and technologies to support individuals at risk of developing pressure injuries and the caregivers who support them. This interdisciplinary research combines engineering, computer science, healthcare and those with lived experience and takes place in the community, in rehabilitation settings and in complex continuing care environments. Her goal is to equip individuals at risk of developing pressure injuries and the caregivers who support them with educational tools and technologies in order to reduce unnecessary pain and suffering.
