Biography

Chantal Byrnes Leadbeater is a Registered Nurse, always building on her foundational background as a Registered Practical Nurse. She has completed the Accredited Wound Care Champion Program and is currently completing the Nurse Specialized in Wound Ostomy and Continence Program. She continues to pursue ongoing professional development opportunities, including attending conferences, ECHO courses and additional specialist courses such as Fundamentals in Palliative Care.

In her current role as a Clinical Educator, she supports frontline staff in providing evidence- informed wound care. She serves as the Pressure Injury Lead for my facility, where she engages in the management of Stage 2 or greater pressure injuries, root cause analysis, and system-level quality improvement initiatives. This includes integrating changes into our Meditech system, exploring opportunities for Al involvement, and developing preventative strategies. She also designs and delivers staff education, develops clinical policies and procedures, and leads interdisciplinary campaigns to promote best practices.

Her work is specialized within the context of patients with significant mental illness and this has been increasingly intersecting with palliative wound care. She is actively building collaborative relationships with external partners to develop a supportive learning community by presenting at conferences, participating in educational days, and encouraging involvement at the facility level. The goal is to enhance care and quality of life for individuals with life-limiting conditions.
