Canadian Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (CPIAP) Announces New President-Elect

Wednesday, July 24, 2024– The Canadian Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (CPIAP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Moralejo, RN, BScN, MScCH: WPC, NSWOC, WOCC(C), IIWCC as President-Elect. As a certified Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) working in Complex Continuing Care at the UHN in Toronto, Ontario, Joshua brings a wealth of experience in the prevention and management of pressure injuries and dedication to this vital role.

Joshua Moralejo brings over 15 years of clinical experience, particularly in managing Pressure Injuries, Diabetic Foot Ulcers, and Leg Ulcers. Throughout his career, Joshua held roles such as Registered Nurse, Educator, Clinical Practice Lead (Wound Care), Clinical Nurse Specialist (Wound & Ostomy), and Patient Care Manager in Complex Continuing Care, Community, and Acute Care settings. He is passionate about ongoing learning and the practical application of Wound Care Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs) among frontline clinicians and student learners.

Joshua’s commitment to treating patients as whole persons, rather than merely focusing on their wounds, aligns with the holistic and interprofessional approach advocated by CPIAP. His contributions include serving on Health Quality Ontario’s Advisory Committee to establish quality standards for the management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers, Leg Ulcers, and Pressure Injuries and he is currently serving on the Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC) Board as the Ontario Regional Director. “Joshua was also a member of the expert panel for the recent RNAO BPG Update on Pressure Injuries.”

CPIAP President, Kaylem Boileau, MHSc, RD, expressed her confidence in Joshua’s leadership, stating, “Joshua’s extensive experience and dedication to wound care, particularly in managing Pressure Injuries, make him an outstanding choice for President-Elect. We look forward to his contributions in advancing CPIAP’s mission and vision.”
