The Canadian Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (CPIAP) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Chester Ho, MD, of Edmonton, Alberta, as its new Medical Director.
Dr. Ho is a highly accomplished Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Alberta and the inaugural Spinal Cord Injury Research Endowed Chair. In addition, he serves as the Facility Medical Director for the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and co-chairs the Provincial Pressure Injury Prevention Committee for Alberta Health Services.
With a distinguished career as a clinician, researcher, and administrator, Dr. Ho is celebrated for his expertise in pressure injury prevention and his commitment to integrating research into clinical practice. His prolific contributions include over 140 peer-reviewed publications in leading rehabilitation journals, supported by research funding from esteemed agencies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, US Department of Veterans Affairs, Brain Canada, and the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation.
Dr. Ho’s contributions have earned him significant recognition, including the 2021 Champion of Change Award from the Canadian Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Association and the 2023 Chinese Canadian Legend Award.
