Biography

Nevart Hotakorzian is from Montreal, Quebec and has obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University de Montreal in 1994 and began her career at the MUHC (formerly known as the Royal Victoria Hospital). She worked as a nurse in general surgery and vascular surgery for the first years of her career.

She became interested in advancing her studies to become an Enterostomal Therapy Nurse and graduated in 2004 from the Canadian Academy of Enterostomal Therapy now called the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Education Program (WOC-EP).

She currently holds a position as an NSWOC in wound and ostomy consultations for the Jewish General Hospital at the CIUSSS West-Central-of-Montreal in Quebec. She is the President of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC) and has been an active member of NSWOCC since 2015.

She completed the Leadership Program for Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Excellence from CAET in 2016. She continues to support NSWOCC as a preceptor for students in the WOC-EP. She also participated in the creation of the Power of 3 Campaign of NSWOCC in (2019), the Preoperative Stoma Site Marking for Fecal Diversions: Ileostomy and Colostomy (2019) and the Standards of Practice of NSWOCC (2020). Finally, as nursing continues to advance, Nevart is part of the first group of nurses who obtained their right to prescribe in Quebec through RAMQ.

Nevart is passionate to support NSWOCC development by remaining involved in current projects.
