Dr Alan Rogers is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with sub-specialty training in burn surgery. He completed his medical degree and surgical training in Cape Town, South Africa and East Grinstead, United Kingdom, and is a fellow of the South African, Irish and American Colleges of Surgery. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, University of Toronto (U of T) and the quality improvement lead in the Ross Tilley Burn Centre, where he is an attending burn surgeon. His clinical interests are reconstructive surgery for trauma and burns, as well as the management of complex wounds like pressure sores. He is a member of the Research Ethics Board and Infection Prevention and Control committees at Sunnybrook Hospital, and until recently ran the city-wide Division of Plastic Surgery journal club. Alan is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate plastic surgery training at U of T, and is in pool of surgeons for global surgery initiatives, Mercy Ships and Doctors without borders (MSF).
